Stop irregular stalls, PMC to set up Khau gallis

Npnews24 online Pune : Civic body plans 250 food zones in city and scouting for proper places is on. Irregular roadside food stalls set up by hawkers are likely to disappear soon. In a bid to stop new food stalls from popping up in various parts of the city.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to set up new khau gallis. They have instructed ward officers to identity places for these food plazas. While the hawkers have welcomed the movie, they have demanded that the PMC authorities should bear the cost for maintaining the standard at the ‘thelas’

PMC has now decided to set up 250 such Zones across the city in which 2,500 food stalls will be set up. While multiple food articles will be available in these zones, all the hawkers will have to follow the Food and Drug Authority (FDA) norms and will maintain cleanliness standards.

Madhav Jagtap, head of the PMC’s anti-encroachment department, said, “Through our hawkers policy we are taking many steps to rehabilitate vendors.

While the hawkers welcomed the move, they also demanded that the PMC authorities should bear the cost of all aspect including cleanliness and standards.
