State govt to give Rs 15 lakh compensation to animal attack victim’s kin

Np News 24 Pune : The Maharashtra government has announced that it will give Rs 15 lakh as compensation to the kin of the people who have died in wild animal attacks in the State.
The compensation will be given in three parts.
In the first part, Rs 5 lakh will be given to the kin of the deceased.  The other two parts of the amount will be deposited in a fixed account of the family members.  The fixed deposits will be of 5-year tenure and 10-year tenure respectively.  The money will be deposited in a joint account of all the family members.
The family can withdraw the amount prematurely but they will need a No-objection certificate (NoC) from the Forest Department to do so.
The amount can be withdrawn for wedding, education and medical reasons.
The compensation will be applicable for all wild animals including tiger, bear, wild buffalo, jackal, hyena, crocodile, leopard, wild boar, wolf, elephant and wild dog.
