Sqae, Khadki celebrated its raising day on 01 November 2018

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE –  Senior Quality Assurance Establishment (Armaments), Khadki, the oldest premier establishment of DGQA (under Ministry of Defence) has celebrated its  Raising Day on 01 Nov 2018 as the establishment enters into 150th year.

Lt Gen Shamsher Singh, DG DGQA and Mrs Madhu Dhull first couple of the organization graced the occasion. Lt Gen Shamsher Singh, addressed the audience and said that SQAE(A) Khadki over the years has played as role model to other DGQA establishments in setting up standards in QA practices and assistance in development/improvement in unit. He complimented all the Officers, Staff and employees of the unit for the sustained excellent, scintillating performance  and extended his best wishes to  the unit for their future endeavours.

The programme was also attended by Maj Gen RK Malhotra, Controller, CQA(A), Shri MK Mohapatra, Sr GM, Amn Fy, Shri CL Maurya, GM, HE Fy alongwith Senior Officers from various establishments. On this occasion, a cultural programme was organized by SQAE(A) and CQA(A) Cultural Groups. The main attraction of the cultural programme was enthusiastic performance by students of Om Shri Sai Ram School for Special Children, Bavdhan. This unit has adopted the school and pays Rs. 20, 000/- per year, for their welfare.

SQAE(A) Khadki is the first DGQA unit established in the country in 1869 when Ammunition Factory Khadki came into being. The unit has been functioning under different names since its inception. During World War II, the unit was reorganised and redesignated as Technical Development Establishment. It carried out the functions of Inspection, Research and Development and was AHSP (Authority Holding Sealed Particulars) of all Land Service ammunition.

In 1959, Armament Reaserch and Development Establishment (ARDE) Pashan Pune and Controllerate of Quality Assurance (Ammunition) , Khadki, Pune were created  and the parent unit was redesignated as Inspectorate of Armaments. In Sep 1969, the Command of unit was upgraded to the rank of the Colonel and the unit was again redesignated as Senior Inspectorate of Armaments, Khadki and finally took its present name of SQAE (Armts) in Oct 1987.

The unit has rich heritage and traditions. It has achieved various laurels and has been the hallmark of excellence in all the fields.  To highlight a few, Shri Vasant Ranjane of SQAE(A), Khadki was the Indian Opening Bowler against West Indies in 1962-63 and S/Shri BN Nimal and Shri  Joe Philips  of this Establishment brought laurels to the nation and the Unit by representing in the 1936 Berlin Olympics in hockey. Shri Mukund G Mandale, Assistant Engineer (Quality Assurance) has been empaneled by BCCI in the list of Umpires.

The establishment  constantly endeavors to carry forward the legacy of excellence in all spheres of Quality. The Unit has been certified by BIS  as ISO 9001: 2015 in 2018. All efforts of the establishment are directed towards customer satisfaction by delivering the desired quality products.
