Solapur: Woman cop dies by suicide after facing harassment by superiors

Solapur: A woman police personnel posted at Jodbhavi Peth Police Station in Solapur City Commissionerate died by suicide allegedly after being fed up of the harassment by her superior.

The husband of the deceased woman alleged that she died by suicide after a senior officer working at the same police station reportedly harassed her on WhatsApp. According to information received, the woman ingested poison in a village near Solapur city. The woman’s relatives rushed her to the hospital where doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.

“There were some chats between the dead woman police officer and a senior police officer. It was the chats that led to a dispute in the woman’s house. No complaint has been lodged so far. However, a detailed investigation into the incident will be conducted and if anyone is found guilty, strict action will be taken against them, “said Deputy Commissioner of Police by Vaishali Kadukar.
