Meanwhile, the city has been crowded with Metro Pillars and the construction of Metro stations have been going on throughout the city are going which has created a tensed situation for the Ganesh Utsav organizers. They are worried that the celebrations of this festival might create hurdles in the rallies which they are about to organize.

The progress of the work of metro has already slowed down due to heavy rains, and in amidst of all, Metro authorities have decided to put a break on the metro works till the Ganesh festival ends.

In a meeting which was held between Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) and Ganesh Mandals of Karve and Paud road, Maharashtra MahaMetro announced that there will be no more barricading on Karve road and Paud road till the end of Ganesh festival. The decision was taken to prevent causing trouble to the commoners and the Ganesh Mandals.

The Metro Corporation said that because of the Metro work, the area wise width of the roads will get reduced resulting in reducing area for the rallies to be held. Ganesh Mandals were more worried about that passage of their decorated vehicles through these roads on the last day of the festival.

He further added ‘Some Mandals agreed with our decision and further discussion will take place with traffic police’.

“MahaMetro is extremely sensitive to Public safety issues at every stage of the project. While monitoring construction activity, we found that noise, vibration, air quality, water, is a routine to the construction works of Pune Metro. Henceforth, we have appealed Ganesh Mandals to cooperate on festivals, to prevent hardship to citizens” a senior MahaMetro official said.
