Rains accompanied by thunderstorms likely for next four days in Pune

Pune: The city is currently witnessing sweltering heat during the day and showers in the evening. Though it is providing respite to urbanites from the hot and humid weather, it is causing losses to farmers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall, along with thunderstorms, for the next four days.

The IMD’s forecast for Monday (yesterday) was light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms. Following the conclusion of the voting for the Lok Sabha election in the evening, the city received light rainfall. A 2.9 mm rainfall was reported in Shivajinagar till 8.30 pm on Monday.

Monday morning was cool but later it became hot and humid. Voters suffered the oppressing heat. Some of them complained of not getting enough water at voting centres. However, clouds started gathering after 5.30 pm in and around the city. Soon, the city got light rainfall. However, it did not affect polling in the city. It has been raining for the past four days in Pune. Shivajinagar recorded 28 mm and 40.4 mm rainfall on May 11 and 12, respectively.
