Pune to receive rainfall for two more day

NPnews24 Online Pune: Pune will receive light to moderate rainfall in the next two days, the Meteorological Department has predicted. The city received 18 millimetres of rainfall on Monday till evening.

It has been raining in the area for days. Due to this, the Mutha river has been flooded and the Mula and Pavana rivers are overflowing. The Met department has forecasted that the rainfall will continue over the next two days.

Light to moderate rainfall is expected on Tuesday. After Wednesday, the rainfall will become lesser, the department said.

Shivajinagar recorded 41.1 millimetres of rainfall within the twenty-four hours till Monday morning. From June 1 to August 5, it received 707.3 millimeters of rain.

Meanwhile, 828.8 mm of rainfall was recorded at Pashan and 630.3 mm of rainfall was recorded at Lohgaon.

“The district administration is taking necessary precautions in case of heavy rainfall,” said District Collector Naval Kishore Ram during a press conference on Monday.

“In the district, 3,343 families living in the low-lying have been shifted to safety shelters from Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad area due to the water released from the dam because heavy rainfall in Mulshi and Maval talukas. Those people will be compensated with Rs 6000 each,” Ram said.

“Out of the 24 dams in the district, 18 dams are 100 per cent filled. In the remaining dams, water storage is around 95 per cent,” he added.

The district has received 108 per cent rainfall till August 5 as compared to the average last year. In Maval taluka, 200 per cent of rainfall was witnessed, Mulshi 134 per cent, Bhor 141 per cent, Junnar 127 per cent and Khed taluka received 139 per cent rainfall.

However, Indapur taluka received only 31 per cent rainfall, Daund 40 per cent, Baramati 58 per cent and Shirur witnessed 59 per cent rainfall.
