Pune: Shirval journalist attacker arrested by police after 1.5 years

Pune: Murad Patel, a journalist hailing from Shirval was attacked 1.5 years ago with sharp weapons and stones with the intent of murder. The cops from Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station and Satara have successfully caught the accused, Shafiq Rafiq Shaikh (21) and have arrested him.

Shaikh is a resident of Katraj and had attempted at killing the journalist in the midnight of 11 April, 2019 when he was returning home back then. Shaikh with a few others stabbed him with sharp weapons, stones and first attacked his back and hands.

Murad was then admitted to the hospital immediately and soon recovered from his injuries.

Shaikh had gone undercover since then and it was recently known through sources that he is now staying at his residence in Katraj after which he was arrested.

Police had earlier registered a case under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) against unidentified persons.
