Pune police EOW nabs man in Alfa Lavals’ Rs 3.62 crores cheating case

Pune: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- Sleuths from the economic offences wing (EOW) of Pune city police on Thursday arrested a man who is said to have helped accused open bank accounts in Alfa Laval’s Rs 3.62 crores cheating case. The arrested accused has been identified as Sonu Nirmal Agarwal (38), a resident of Navi Mumbai.

According to police, Alfa Laval was to pay Rs 4,000 per share to its shareholders. However, many of them had died or changed their addresses. The amount was being paid based on record of shareholders submitted by M/s Link Intime India Pvt Ltd. Officials of M/s Link Intime India Pvt Ltd, Dhole Patil road, Pune, forged records of 18 shareholders and fraudulently got Rs 3.62 crores paid to them. The arrested accused Agarwal had helped other accused open bank accounts of the shareholders.

An FIR in this regard is registered with Bundgarden police station for offences including cheating and forgery.

DCPs Shirish Sardeshpande, Jyotipriya Singh, ACP Nilesh More supervised the investigation team which included senior police inspector Mohan Jadhav, constables Amrita Harba and Sandip Girhe.
