Pune Police Crime Branch | Pune police Crime Branch arrests two men for assaulting and robbing auto driver
Pune : NpNews24 Online – The Crime Branch Unit 4 of the Pune police have arrested two men for assaulting an auto driver and decamping with his rickshaw. Earlier, the two accused had assaulted the auto driver who was passing near the Lohegaon crematorium with a stick and assaulted him and forcefully sat in his rickshaw.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rahul Raju Thorat (28), a resident of Loni Kalbhor and Ajinkya Prakash Mohite (28), a resident of Lohegaon. Their aides Bablya alias Ajay Ashok Kasbe, a resident of Vishrantwadi and Arun Raju Pillay, a resident of Lohegaon are absconding. The arrested accused are criminals on police records and serious cases are registered against them. At present, they are out on bail.
The arrested and absconding accused had brutally assaulted an auto driver near Lohegaon crematorium and robbed him of his mobile and rickshaw. An FIR is registered at the Vimantal police station. The Crime Branch unit 4 team visited the area and checked the CCTV footage of the area. Meanwhile, on June 17, 2023, API Vikas Jadhav, policemen Sanjay Adhari, Pravin Bhalchim, Vinod Mahajan and Nageshsingh Kunvar got information about accused Ajinkya Mohite and Rahul Thorat. They came to know that they were sitting in a stolen auto near the nala near Forest Park on Kharadi Road. They informed their superiors who asked them to take legal action.
The police laid a trap and arrested Rahul Thorat and Ajinkya Mohite. When they were questioned, they admitted committing the crime with the help of Bablya alias Ajay and Arun Pillay. The police have seized the auto and other goods.
The action was taken by API Vikas Jadhav, ASI Mahendra Pawar, policemen Sanjay Adhari, Pravin Bhalchim, Vinod Mahajan and Nageshsingh Kunvar under the guidance of CP Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende, ACP Satish Govekar and PI Ganesh Mane.
