Pune Police bust fake call centre in Mulund; loan fraud of crores of rupees, 40 mobile phones seized

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –  Pune Crime | The Dattawadi Police have busted a fake call centre in Mulund (west) in Thane. The call centre was being run illegally under the guise of a reputed life insurance company. The Dattawadi Police have arrested two persons in this case. (Pune Crime)

 

Danesh Ravindra Brid (25) and Rohit Santosh Pandey (24), both from Thane, have been held. As many as 40 mobile phones, seven computer hard-disks, 1 NVR, and important documents have been confiscated. Around 43 boys and girls were working in this call centre.

 

The boys and girls in the call center used to call citizens identifying themselves as sales executives and win their trust and lure them into taking loans up to Rs 50 lakhs at zero percent interest rate after buying a policy of Rs 50 lakhs. They would ask citizens for their Aadhaar card, cancelled cheques, photos and other important documents through WhatsApp and would also calculate 6 months installments amounting to Rs. 2.50 lakh. Then they would be induced to pay Rs 1.25 lakh in advance. A case was registered against unknown persons at the Dattawadi police station. Considering the seriousness of the crime, Sinhagad road division Assistant Commissioner Sunil Pawar instructed the Dattawadi Police to conduct the investigation.

 

 

Senior Police Inspector Abhay Mahajan immediately instructed the cyber team of Dattawadi police station to search for the accused. A police team raided the call centre, arrested the duo and seized the material.

A team comprising PSI Akshay Saravade, Police Constable Kashinath Kolekar, Jagdish Khedkar, Anup Pandit, Surya Jadhav and Prasad Potdar raided the fake call centre under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-3) Suhail Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Sunil Pawar, PI Abhay Mahajan and PI (Crime) Vijay Kohmne.
