Pune: PMPML resumes bus services on Chakan, Ranjangaon, Saswad, Jejuri MIDC routes

Pune: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has resumed services on 12 routes from December 12. These routes include the Chakan, Ranjangaon, Jejuri MIDC, Yavat, Sarola and other areas adjoining Pune city. To avoid inconvenience to the commuters, a total of 70 buses will be resumed on these routes, the administration said.

Currently, PMPML services are only operational in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Even though the PMPML has about two thousand buses – self owned and contractual basis – the passengers were facing major inconvenience as PMPML services were not available in rural areas. Therefore, the administration has taken steps to expand and start services in the outskirts and rural areas, especially the industrial hubs of Chakan, Saswad, Jejuri, Ranjangaon and Yavat.

Dr Rajendra Jagtap, President and Managing Director of PMPML said, “Efforts are being made to make more buses available for commuters. There is a high demand from employees and student population in the concerned areas. Hence the board of directors of PMPML has approved to resume bus services up to the limits of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). Hence, the administration has planned to resume services on 12 routes in rural areas.”
