Pune PMC Water Supply Department | Water supply issues in Fursungi and Uruli Devachi will be resolved by June end

Pune :  NpNews24 Online – Pune PMC Water Supply Department  | The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is trying to supply water to Fursungi and Uruli Devachi by June end as the Maharasthra Jeevan Pradhikaran will complete the water supply construction by that time. Once the water supply system goes operational, the number of water tankers will drastically come down. This was revealed by Water Supply Department Superintending Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar. (Pune PMC Water Supply Department)

The Maharasthra Jeevan Pradhikaran is developing the water supply systems in Fursungi and Uruli Devachi. Following their merger with the PMC in June 2021, the two villages did not get funds. This slowed the progress of the water supply systems. The PMC made around Rs 3 crore available in January. The contractors concerned were paid their bills. However, the projects will be expedited only after the state government provides Rs 24 crores for them. The Pradhikaran has demanded funds immediately to complete the water schemes.

The demand has been put up at the administration level, which will be granted soon. Residents in Fursungi and Uruli Devachi are getting water by 200 tankers due to the problem caused by the garbage depot in their vicinity. Around Rs 7-8 crore are spent every year on water tankers. Even after the Pradhikaran opens its water purifying centre, around 40 tankers will be needed to supply water. This will not only save the expenditure on water tankers but also regular water supply will start in these villages, said Pawaskar.
