Pune PMC News | Pothole Woes: Pune Municipal Corporation Steps in to Repair Neglected Road From Balewadi to Shimla Office

Pune : Pune PMC News | The condition of the road from Balewadi to Shimla Office Chowk has become a persistent concern for commuters, as potholes continue to plague the route despite repeated appeals to the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). However, the tide is about to turn, as the Municipal Corporation has taken matters into their own hands and will now undertake the much-needed repairs.

The stretch of road in question has been heavily impacted due to the ongoing construction work for the Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar Metro project. The installation of pillars for the metro line has led to extensive digging and barricading, leaving a narrow passage for vehicles and resulting in chronic traffic congestion. Moreover, the large machinery and trucks used in the metro project have caused further deterioration, with potholes, chamber wear, and tears becoming a common sight.

Initially, PMRDA was responsible for repairing and asphalt the road following the metro work. However, delays in the expected repairs left motorists facing numerous difficulties on their daily commute. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) made multiple appeals to PMRDA, but the response was cold, prompting them to take decisive action.

Vikas Dhakne, the Additional Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, announced that they have decided to take up the road repair themselves. PMRDA has finally approved this decision and is prepared to cover the cost of the repairs.
