Pune & Pimpri-Chinchwad Borders Sealed, Entire Pune Declared a Containment Zone

Pune : Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad cities have been declared as Containment Zones in order to stop the community spread of the global pandemic Corona. Under this, all the boundaries of the two cities have been sealed from midnight on Sunday. Due to the sealing of the city borders and major roads, neither one will be able to enter or go out of the two cities. Significantly, on 17 April, the Maharashtra government has delegated the rights to declare the corona spread areas as the Containment Zone to the MANAPA Commissioners. Accordingly, both the MANAPA Commissioners have issued its orders from tonight, which will remain in force till 27 April.

Pimpri Chinchwad MANAPA Commissioner Shravan Hardikar said in an order issued that, by the order of the state government, some relaxation has been given to the citizens in lock-down from Monday (April 20). But since Corona patients are founddaily in Pimpri Chinchwad city, in such a situation, the spread of the corona can be further increased. Because it is an industrial city, there is continuous movement of people for jobs and business. Keeping this in mind, it is necessary to seal the city to prevent the spread of corona. For the prevention of this disease, restrict the free movement of people is very important. Hence the city boundaries and main roads are sealed.

With this order, MANAPA, police, state and central government employees, people connected with essential services and their vehicles have been kept separate. Banks, grocery stores, vegetables, fruits, chicken-mutton and other essential commodities shops will remain open from 10 am to 2 pm. Essential commodities, ready-made foods, drug distribution etc. will start from 8 am to 10 pm. Hospitals, dispensaries, medical stores will be open all the time. Like Pimpri Chinchwad MANAPA, Pune MANAPA Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad has also issued orders to seal the boundaries and main roads of Pune. He also expressed the possibility of the spread of corona in Pune to the level of communal transfer. Due to this, the entire city has been declared as a Containment Zone.
