Pune: Pandharpur MLA Bharat Bhalke passes away at 60

Pune: The Pandharpur Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Bharat Bhalke took his last breath in Pune’s Ruby Hall Hospital at midnight on Friday.

The 60 year old leader had battled the covid-19 virus last month and had well recovered, however it was recently that his health had started deteriorating and was moved to Pune for further treatment.

He is survived by his wife, son and three daughters. The doctors at Ruby Hall hospital had announced on Friday itself that his condition is critical. Wishes for his healthy recovery poured from all over and people even shared posts about the same on social media.

He was the MLA from Mangalwedha assembly constituency from Solapur district. He was tested Covid-19 positive on October 30. He recovered, but later developed kidney-related problems.

Bhalke was a third time MLA from Malshiras Pandharpur assembly constituency. He quit the Congress in 2019 and tried to join the BJP, but was unable to get a seat. He contested the election on the NCP ticket and won it.
