Pune: One held on charge of murder attempt on shop owner in Vishrantwadi

Pune: Vishrantwadi Police arrested a man for allegedly attempting to kill a shop owner with a scythe after he refused to give money on Monday, March 15.

The accused has been identified as Vinod Uttam Pawar (35), resident of Ramgad Vasti, Kalasgaon, Vishrantwadi. Sanjay Laxman Goyal (28, Mahalakshmi Vihar Society, Vishrantwadi was critically injured. A case of attempted murder has been registered at Vishrantwadi police station.

According to police, Sanjay Goyal owns hardware and electricals shop at Kalas in Vishrantwadi. While Vinod does the painting work and used to come to the shop to get painting materials. Meanwhile, Vinod came to the shop around one o’clock on Sunday afternoon. He asked Sanjay to lend him Rs.500. At that time, Sanjay refused to pay. Angered by this, he threatened to kill Sanjay and left the shop. Shortly afterwards, he returned with an iron scythe in his hand and stabbed Sanjay on his neck.

Sanjay was rushed to a private hospital where he is undergoing treatment, the police said. Vishrantwadi police are conducting further investigations.
