Pune News | Safe and Sound: Stranded Tourists from Pune in Himachal Pradesh Contacted and Relocated

Pune : Pune News | Seventeen citizens from the district embarked on a tourism trip to Himachal Pradesh, but their plans took an unexpected turn as heavy rains triggered flash floods in the region. Consequently, these tourists found themselves stranded. However, reassuring news arrived on Wednesday as the District Disaster Management Department confirmed that all the citizens from Pune who had traveled to Himachal Pradesh were safe.

Over the past two days, the District Disaster Management Department successfully established contact with ten out of the seventeen tourists. By Wednesday afternoon, they had managed to reach the remaining seven individuals as well. These tourists have been relocated to a secure location, and the Maharashtra state government and district administration are actively coordinating with the Himachal Pradesh government to facilitate their safe return.

The northern states of India are currently grappling with incessant rainfall and subsequent floods, disrupting the lives of residents and tourists alike. It is common for a significant number of individuals from the district to visit these states for tourism purposes. Concerned relatives had notified the district administration about the 17 citizens who had embarked on a tourism trip from Chandigarh to Manali in the Himalayan region. From July 4th to 9th, contact had been lost with these tourists. However, by Monday and Tuesday, the administration successfully established contact with ten of them, ensuring their well-being and safety. The Disaster Management Department officer, Vitthal Banote, assured relatives that all the tourists had been moved to safe locations, even though contact could not be established with the remaining seven individuals by Wednesday.

Meanwhile, one of the tourists managed to reach Punjab, and arrangements are being made to gather all the tourists together. Banote emphasized that relatives should not worry as their loved ones have been relocated to secure places, ensuring their safety.
