Pune News | Nashik-Nagar-Pune Railway Line Project on Hold: Ajit Pawar Provides Explanation

Mumbai : Pune News | The ambitious Nashik-Nagar-Pune railway line project, announced by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, is currently at a standstill. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar addressed the issue in a press conference held in Nashik, shedding light on the reasons behind the project’s delay and outlining the next steps.

Ajit Pawar stated that after assuming his new role, he promptly contacted Jaiswal, the officer from Maharail, the company responsible for the project’s development. He revealed that the project has been halted by the Ministry of Railways in Delhi due to differing working perspectives within the railways. However, he emphasized the importance of the Nashik-Nagar-Pune railway line and the benefits it would bring to the region.

To resolve the impasse, Pawar expressed his intention to discuss the matter with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and the Railway Minister. The Railway Minister has suggested that the project should be carried out under their jurisdiction, while the MVA government planned to implement it through the separate entity Maharail. The decision regarding project execution and land acquisition needs to be made before progress can resume.

Addressing concerns about air traffic in Nashik, which has reportedly been shifted to Nagpur, Ajit Pawar assured that efforts are being made to ensure smooth night landings. Additional funds have been allocated for this purpose in the supplementary demands. Pawar emphasized the government’s commitment to equitable development and stated that there would be no discrimination in awarding projects. The authorities are also willing to offer concessions to investors who express interest in the region.
