Pune News | Nagrik Hakka Sanrakshan Manch: Sassoon Hospital Responds to Complaint, Publishes Citizens’ Charter for Transparency and Accountability

Pune : Pune News | Sassoon Hospital, Pune, known as a vital public healthcare facility in Western Maharashtra, has recently taken a step towards ensuring transparency and accountability. Following a complaint filed by the Citizen Rights Protection Forum in Pune, the hospital administration has promptly responded by publishing the Citizens’ Charter on their website. This move aims to address the concerns raised by citizens who were facing challenges due to the absence of accessible information about the hospital’s services.

The Citizens’ Charter serves as a crucial tool in promoting a people-centric approach and implementing government policies with enhanced transparency in the hospital’s day-to-day operations. By providing detailed information about the services offered, prescribed timelines, associated fees, and designated officers for complaints, the charter empowers the public to avail themselves of quality services efficiently. Moreover, it ensures that the administration adheres to laws and regulations while offering a transparent and accountable system to patients and their families.

Nagrik Hakka Sanrakshan Manch, through its President Aviraj Marathe and Executive President Praful Gujar, had filed a complaint highlighting the absence of a Citizens’ Charter at Sassoon Sarvopachar Hospital. The forum emphasized the importance of making the charter available on the hospital’s website and prominently displayed within the premises. Acknowledging the concerns raised by the forum, the hospital administration promptly published the updated Citizens’ Charter on their official website, http://bjgmcpune.org. Efforts are also underway to install the physical charter board in the hospital premises in the near future.

This proactive response by Sassoon Hospital demonstrates its commitment to ensuring a patient-centric approach and fostering trust between the institution and the public. The Citizens’ Charter will enable patients and their relatives to access necessary information about hospital services, including the expected timelines for various procedures. Moreover, it will act as a deterrent to financial fraud perpetrated by unauthorized agents, thus safeguarding the interests of the patients.

The Citizen Rights Protection Forum urges citizens to familiarize themselves with the information provided in the charter and exercise their rights accordingly. The availability of this charter not only empowers individuals but also holds the hospital administration accountable for delivering efficient and timely services.
