BJP trying to collect funds for polls, alleges NCP

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune NCP | The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) standing committee held a meeting on Friday. It has been a custom to hold such meetings in the first half of the day. However, for ‘financial’ purpose, it was held till the evening. This proves that the ruling BJP is more interested in ‘financial deals’. The BJP is trying to collect funds for the civic elections, alleged NCP city unit president Prashant Jagtap.

He said, “Some proposals were brought at the last moment. Why were they not mentioned in the agenda a week ago? It is a moot point. The NCP did not oppose the Jica and riverfront development projects to avoid sending across a message that the NCP was opposed to development projects. However, many suspicious dealings were done by the BJP in today’s meeting.”

The standing committee chairman used the whip for the first time in the history of PMC for a purpose other than polls. Though the ruling party has the majority, it had to issue the whip. BJP corporators were told through the whip that they would neither discuss the proposals nor put up any supplementary demands. This proves that the BJP does not trust its corporators. The BJP knew that it was doing something wrong, which could be opposed, said Jagtap.

Other proposals could be discussed in today’s meetings. However, a separate meeting will be held on Monday. This underlines the BJP’s interest in financial dealings. This is being done to raise funds for the civic elections. Puneites should know the real face of BJP now, said Jagtap.
