Pune – Navale Bridge Accident | Gruesome mishap on Navle Bridge: Four people injured, 18 hurt after private bus rams into truck

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –  Navale Bridge Accident | Four people were killed and 18 people were injured when a private bus rammed into a truck which had turned turtle on the Navle Bridge near the Swaminarayan temple on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway. The jawans of the fire brigade successfully pulled out 18 trapped passengers. Since both the truck and the bus had turned turtle, the rescue operation to free the driver and passengers went on for two hours. The accident took place near Swaminarayan temple at 2.30 am. According to the fire brigade, the driver of the truck which was going to Mumbai from Kolhapur with sugar bags, lost his control over the vehicle on the slope and rammed into a private bus. The cabin of the truck was destroyed due to the impact of the collision. The truck turned turtle and the truck driver was trapped below the truck. The private bus also turned turtle. After they were informed about the incident, four fire tenders of the fire brigade, a rescue van, and PMRDA’s rescue van immediately reached the spot.

 

The jawans broke the window panes of the bus and rescued the passengers by using a rope. In the front portion, a woman and a girl were trapped. The girl’s hands and legs were stuck. She was rescued by using a pool cutter but her hair was stuck. The jawans cut her hair and pulled her out of the bus. The driver of the truck was rescued in a similar manner and was sent to a hospital.

 

The traffic on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway had come to a standstill. Both the vehicles were moved aside by using a crane. The sugar bags were also moved aside with the help of a JCB and this regularised the traffic.

 

After they were informed, the Bharati Vidyapeeth police, traffic police, jawans of PMRDA fire brigade immediately reached the accident spot and started the rescue operation.
