Pune Municipal Corporation permits to open the sports ground

Pune: An effort is being made at all levels to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The number of coronavirus patients is also starting to decrease. The Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led state government in Maharashtra currently implemented Unlock 5.0 and relaxation has been provided to many sectors such as bars and restaurants. Meanwhile, today the Pune Municipal Corporation has allowed outdoor and indoor sports on certain guidelines and conditions.

The Pune Municipal Corporation issued order today by Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar to reopen the ground which was closed on the backdrop of Coronavirus induced lockdown. The decision will allow the grounds, turfs to flourish again which have been closed since the first phase of the lockdown.

The corporation announced that cricket, kho-kho and other outdoor games are being allowed. Although the ground will be reopened, special care will be taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The sports are to be played in compliance with the social distancing norms.

The PMC has clarified that citizens below 10 years and above 65 years will be barred from entering the ground considering the seriousness of the coronavirus crisis. Apart from this, all the rules related to COVID-19 will be strictly implemented.

The Unlock 5.0 guidelines were announced on 30 September as part of ‘Mission Begin Again’. It was implemented to ease the flow of activities, the state government allowed hotels, food courts, restaurants and bars to operate from October 5 onwards, but with 50 percent of their capacities. However, the decision on reopening educational institutes and trains except special trains will be made after 31 October. The state-wise sports centers are not yet open but Pune took steps to open the grounds

According to the latest information shared by the state health department, Maharashtra continues to be at the top of India’s COVID-19 tally with 15,35,315 cases. With 165 fatalities, the death toll has climbed to 40,514. The number of active cases is now pitched at 2,12,439, and the total number of recoveries is 12,81,896.
