Pune: Member of Bapu Nair Gang Incarcerated Following Extortion and Threatening Complaint

Pune: The anti-extortion cell two of the Pune Crime Branch has taken stringent action against the criminals of the Bapu Nair Gang and their accomplices for demanding an extortion of Rs 30 lakh from the businessman and threatening him to kill. This incident occurred between July 2021 and May 16, 2024, at Varkhade Nagar, Katraj.

In this regard, a 34-year-old businessman from Katraj has filed a complaint with the Pune Crime Branch. Accordingly, a case has been registered against the prime accused, Tabrej Mehbub Sutar, a resident of Katraj, and his accomplices, Avinash Namdev More, a resident of Sahkarnagar, Pune; Sagar Kisan Dhumal, a resident of Upper Depot, Pune; and Kumar alias Pappu Saikar, a resident of Saswad, Pune, under IPC sections 386, 387, 504, 506(2), 507, and 34.

According to the information, the plaintiff has an electrical business and also has the convenience of buying and selling plots in the city. A few days ago, Tabrej Sutar demanded an extortion from the businessman for a lot of financial gain in the business and also to avoid any trouble in the business in the future. Furthermore, the accused also demanded Rs 30 lakh by threatening to kill him.

Accordingly, on investigation, it was found that the accomplices of Tabrez Khan threatened to kill the plaintiff and demanded ransom.

The police searched for the accused and arrested Avinash More and Sagar Dhumal, and they are currently in police custody. Tabrej Sutar is an active member of the Bapu Nair gang and has been in jail since March 2023. Seven serious crimes, like murder and an attempt to murder, have been registered against Tabrez.

This action was taken by the team consisting of Police Inspector Pratap Mankar, Police Sub-Inspector Mohandas Jadhav, Srikant Chavan, Police Commissioner Vijay Gurav, Pradip Shitole, Surendra Jagdale, Sachin Ahivale, Rahul Uttarkar, Sangram Shingare, Saidoba Bhojrao, Pawan Bhosle, Chetan Shirolkar, Amol Raut, and Prashant Shinde, under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Pravin Pawar, Additional Commissioner of Police Crime Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime Amol Zende, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime-2 Satish Govekar.
