Pune: FIR filed against Burger King for serving glass shards in burger

Npnews24 Online Pune: A 31-year-old man has lodged FIR against Burger King, FC Road branch, which is part of American global chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, for allegedly serving him glass shards in a burger.

Based on complaint from Sajit Pathan, an autorickshaw driver, the case has been registered with Deccan Gymkhana police station for offences under sections 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 34 (an act done with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to police, the incident took place around 3 pm on Wednesday. Pathan alongwith his three friends had gone to the outlet. As soon as he ate the burger, he started coughing and soon there was blood in his mouth. When he and his friends checked the burger, they found pieces of glass in it. Pathan was rushed to a hospital, where he has to be admitted in ICU. He spent about Rs 35,000 on his treatment.

Armed with the medical reports, he lodged complaint with police. Police have seized CCTV footage of the outlet and recorded statements of his friends. This report will be updated after getting statement from Burger King.
