Pune: Delay in Justice for Swatantryaveer Savarkar

Pune: Today, a significant press conference was convened, graced by Satyaki Savarkar, grandson of the revered freedom fighter, Swatantryaveer Savarkar, along with prominent legal luminaries including Adv. Sangram Kolhatkar, Adv. Shivraj Joshi, Shree Rahul Bhangonde, and Dr. Sachin Bodhani. The focal point of this gathering was the persistent delay in delivering justice to Swatantryaveer Savarkar, both during his lifetime and even today, echoing the age-old adage that “justice delayed is justice denied.”

Last year, in an unfortunate turn of events, Rahul Gandhi made baseless accusations against Savarkar, alleging his involvement in the abhorrent act of mob lynching. These unfounded claims, vehemently denied by Satyaki Savarkar, prompted him to take legal recourse. He promptly initiated a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi, seeking reparation for the tarnishing of his grandfather’s legacy.

Despite court orders mandating summons under CRPC 202 and instructing the police to proceed with due diligence, Satyaki Savarkar laments the sluggish progress of the case. In light of this, he has chosen to engage with the media, as the fourth pillar of democracy, to address concerns regarding the apparent inertia surrounding the legal proceedings.

Satyaki Savarkar’s poignant query resonates: Why the delay? Is there undue pressure on the police, and if so, from whom? These pressing questions underscore the necessity for transparency and expediency in the pursuit of justice, particularly in matters of such national significance.
