Pune Crime News | Dattawadi police arrest man for misappropriating ₹22.65 lakh under the pretext of being robbed

PUNE : Pune Crime News | The Dattawadi police have arrested a man for misleading a builder and the police under the pretext of a loot and misappropriating ₹22.65 lakh. The police have seized ₹22.44 lakh and a two-wheeler used to commit the crime.

The arrested accused has been identified as Basappa Valmik Shingre. Shingre is employed with a builder. The builder had given him ₹22.65 lakh to be deposited in his office. However, he had disappeared. Hence, the builder had lodged a complaint against Shingre at the Vishrambaug police station. Meanwhile, Shingre returned to the office and said he was robbed by four persons near Neelayam Bridge in Dattawadi police station limits.

The builder went to the Dattawadi police station and informed the officials. An FIR was registered against unknown persons for robbing Shingre. After the police started a probe, they checked more than 100 CCTVs from Law College Road where Shingre stays to Paper Galli in the limits of Vishrambaug police station to Neelayam Bridge in limits of Dattawadi police station and Swargate to Kothrud-Bhugaon road. The police questioned Shingre. He was giving different statements to various police officials.

The police found inconsistency in his statements. He admitted that since he was under a burden of debt, he had cooked up a story of being robbed. The police have recovered ₹22.44 lakh from the stolen amount and a two-wheeler used in the crime.
