Pune Crime News | Contractual helper misappropriates ₹1.73 crore from Bank of Maharashtra’s Gopalwadi branch

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –  Pune Crime News | A contractual helper has misappropriated ₹1.73 crore from the accounts of customers of Bank of Maharashtra’s Gopalwadi branch in Daund taluka. This has been done by misusing the password of bank officials and preparing fake fixed deposit receipts and other documents. (Pune Crime News)

According to the police, the contractual helper has been identified as Parshuram Tukaram Bhagwat. He indulged in misappropriation from 2018 to July 20, 2023. He stole the user ID and password of officers and employees and cheated customers and depositors of the bank.

He took signatures of customers on a blank paper and impressed upon customers that the principal amount and interest had been deposited in their accounts. Later, deposit holders were given fake receipts and cheated.

Meanwhile, the accused, Parshuram, told the depositors that the bank’s Maha Double scheme was operational and if money is invested, the amount will double in a short period. He took blank cheques from them. Later, Parshuram gave fake fixed deposit receipts to them.

By misusing the bank’s computer system, he broke the fixed deposits of customers without their permission. He transferred the money into his and family members’ accounts.
Meanwhile, Deputy Regional Manager Amitchandan Chowdhary of the bank’s Pune East Division has lodged a complaint.

An FIR has been registered against Parshuram Bhagwat for misappropriation and cheating the bank. Customers and depositors are demanding stern action against the accused and co-accused.
