Pune Crime News | Chatuhshrungi police man staying in Sadashiv Peth for molesting girl
PUNE : Pune Crime News | The Pune city police have taken some concrete steps against the background of security issues being faced by women. The police commissioner has also started a WhatsApp number to help citizens and specially, women to lodge their complaints. This initiative of the Pune police is getting a good response. A girl sent a tweet to the Pune police informing them about an incident and demanded punishment for the concerned person. The Chatuhshrungi police, who did not have any evidence, located the person and arrested him.
On July 6, 2023 at 10 pm, the girl and her friend were walking on the footpath with their cycle on Senapati Bapat Road opposite the Balbharati building. A 40-45-year-old man, riding a scooter, came near them and requested them to drive his scooter as he was feeling giddy. The girl decided to drive his scooter and the man sat behind her.
After travelling for some distance, he started touching her in an indecent manner. When the girl told him to stop, he did not listen. Since the girl was ashamed and frightened, she stopped the scooter and asked some boys to help her. She stopped the scooter and after some time, her friend came there on her cycle. The complainant informed her about the incident.
Meanwhile, the Pune police received the tweet. Since the incident happened in the limits of Chatuhshrungi police station, they were informed. The police did not have nay evidence but tracked the man down by checking the CCTV footage.
The Chatuhshrungi police have arrested Anup Prakash Wani (44), a resident of Sadashiv Peth on charges of molestation. When he was questioned, he admitted molesting many girls and women.
The police have issued an appeal that if such an incident has happened with anyone, he should lodge a complaint with the police.
CP Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, DCP Shashikant Borate and ACP Arti Bansode guided Sr PI Balaji Pandhre and his team in taking the action.
