Pune Crime News | 6-Year-Old Girl Dies of Electric Shock in Indapur

Indapur : Pune Crime News | A devastating incident occurred in Indapur when a 6-year-old girl, Kulsum Haider Mushahidi, lost her life due to electric shock near Darga Masjid Chowk. The incident has sparked outrage, leading to a case being registered against the administrative officers of the Mahavitaran Department and Municipal Council responsible for the unfortunate incident.

Kulsum, a kindergarten student, was playing with her siblings near their house in the evening. Unfortunately, she came into contact with an electricity pole belonging to the Mahavitran department and an underground power line box in her neighborhood, resulting in a fatal electric shock. The incident has left her family and the community in deep shock and anguish.

Following the incident, Kulsum’s father, Haider Chhotan Mushahidi, along with over three hundred citizens, went to the Indapur Police Station to file a complaint against the officials of the Distribution Department and Municipal Council. However, they faced a jurisdictional dispute regarding the responsibility for the electricity pole, leading to the police refusing to register a complaint.

In protest, social activists including Pandurang Shinde, Prof. Krishna Tate, Shakeel Syed, Adv. Ashutosh Bhosle, Amjad Bagwan, Aslam Bagwan, Zakir Qazi, Ashfaq Inamdar, Akram Sheikh, and Adv. Inayat Qazi, among others, staged a sit-in at the police station premises from 8 PM to 1 AM. Their persistence paid off as the police finally registered a case, allowing the family to proceed with the funeral rites.

Kulsum’s father, who runs a scrap shop, and other family members and concerned citizens have expressed their grief and frustration, holding the Mahavitran Department accountable for their negligence. They have highlighted numerous instances of rusty and bent electric poles, as well as stray electric wires, scattered throughout the city. In light of the upcoming monsoon season, the citizens are demanding immediate action from Mahavitran to address these safety concerns. They are calling for the installation of electricity-resistant covers on poles at necessary locations to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future
