Former corporator, accomplices severely beat up senior citizen in Pune

Pune : NpNews24 Online Pune Crime | A former corporator and his seven accomplices have been booked for beating up and injuring a senior citizen. Aspirants are surveying and collecting data on vaccination in their areas ahead of the civic polls in the city. During one such survey, a senior citizens was beaten up severely and injured by a former corporator and his accomplices due to a misunderstanding that he objected two girls who visited his residence for the survey.

 

Melroy Martin D’Souza (60), a resident of Mohammadwadi, Hadapsar, lodged a complaint at the Wanwadi police station in this regard. The police have booked former corporator Farooq Inamdar, his son Sufiyan Inamdar, Shahru, Sahil, Ayfas and three others. The incident took place in front of the complainant’s residence in front of Ganga Village Society on Saturday afternoon.

 

Aspirants have been surveying their local areas for the past few weeks. Surveying teams are collecting details such as the number of family members, whether they have been vaccinated and their mobile phone numbers. Farooq Inamdar misunderstood that the senior citizen resisted girls sent to his residence to collect details. The accused attacked the complainant with rubber pipes, plastic jars, etc and injured him while he was returning home from church. The complainant’s spectacles and wrist watch was damaged in the incident. An offence has been registered.
