Pune Crime Branch solves 12 cases of thefts from bikes

Pune : Npnews24 – A man has been arrested by Crime Branch unit 4 of Pune city police, for allegedly stealing cash and valuables kept in dicky of parked two-wheelers. Police have solved 12 such cases and recovered Rs 4.07 lakhs cash and laptop worth Rs 20,000.

The accused has been identified as Subhash alias Baba Laxman Banpatte, a resident of Wadarwadi.

Police Naik Ramesh Chaudhar and Nilesh Shivtare had received information about Banpatte’s activities. He was arrested on March 13 in Wadarwadi by a team led by Police inspector Anjum Bagwan.

Police officials said that the accused used to deposit in his bank accounts and had saved Rs four lakhs till now. He had stolen valuables from vehicles parked in different areas including Viman Nagar, Camp, Yerwada, Bundgarden area.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pradip Deshpande, DCP (crime) Shirish Sardeshpande, ACP (crime 2) Bhanupratap Barge supervised the investigation team which included Inspector Bagwam, Assistant police inspector Ashwini Jagtap, police sub inspector Vijay Zanjad, constable Sheetal Shinde, and policemen Atul Menge, Sachin Dhawle, Bhalchandra Borkar, Shankar Sampate, Shankar Patil, Ganesh Salunke, Dattatray Fulsundar.
