Pune: Cops detain criminal under MPDA Act

PUNE: Kondhwa police on Sunday detained an offender on record for a year at the Yerwada Central Jail under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act.

The criminal, identified as Omkar Chandrasekhar Kapare (25), resident of Kondhwa Khurd, has been charged with six counts of aggravated bodily harm and has re-committed offenses with his accomplices.

Surveillance officers of Kondhwa police station Sub-Inspector Swapnil Patil, Amaldar Chandrakant Mane, Jagdish Patil and Nanavare collected evidence against Omkar Kapre.

Under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Namdev Chavan, Deputy Commissioner Namrata Patil, Assistant Commissioner Rajendra Galande, a team led by Senior Inspector Sardar Patil, Inspector Shabbir Syed submitted a proposal to Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta under the Maharashtra Slum Hooligan Act.

After verifying all the evidence, , the commissioner ordered to place Omkar Kapre in Yerwada jail for a year.
