Pune: Advocate Sagar Kothari appointed as Special Public Prosecutor in Rajgurunagar murder case

Pune:  Advocate Sagar Kothari has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor in the Shrinath Khese murder case of Rajgurunagar in Khed.

Khese was murdered by one Ajit Kanhurkar who had a one-sided love affair with Khese’s sister. He had threatened the Khese family of dire consequences if they did not marry off their daughter to him. In a fit of rage, Kanhurkar had boarded a state transport bus in which Khese and his sister were travelling on June 12, 2018. While the bus was on the go, Kanhurkar attacked Khese with a sickle and then alighted from the bus and fled.

Later when Kanhurkar was arrested and produced before the Khed court, he had abused and threatened and beaten up Khese’s sister who was about to testify against Kanhurkar. This incident happened on September 7, 2019 in front of a Judicial Magistrate (First Class).

After these developments, the Khese family had requested the state government and Law and Judiciary department to appoint Advocate Sagar Kothari as the Special Public Prosecutor in the case. The government and Law and Judiciary Department recently approved his appointment.
