Pune Activist Trupti Desai Detained by Police : Sabarimala Temple Issue

PUNE: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- The Pune Police detained social activist Trupti Desai on Friday morning when she had threatened to block Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s convoy at Shirdi.

The women right activist Trupti Desai wanted to meet the PM Modi for asking the questions regarding the Sabarimala Temple issue.  She also wrote a letter to Ahmednagar’s  Superintendent of Police demanding to meet PM Modi for discussing the Sabarimala Temple issue and questing him regarding the violence faced by women in Kerala.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is on the visit of Shirdi Temple. Narendra Modi visited Shirdi first time since he becomes Prime Minister of the country.

Trupti Desai is a founder of Pune based social activist organization ‘Bhumata  Brigade’  which is fighting for the gender equality and for protecting the women’s right.  Desai was leading the women’s protest for getting the entry to women devotees into Sabarimala Temple.

The doors of Kerala’s famous Sabarimala Temple has opened for women on Wednesday. It happened first time after the Supreme Court verdict. But still women are facing difficulty in getting an entry.

Trupti Desai said that “Even after the Supreme Court’s decision to allow the women’s entry into the Sabarimala Temple, women are not getting entry inside. Those women who have tried to get entry was get abused and heckled.  BJP is supporting to the protesters who trying to spread violence.”

When Police reached at her home, She also said, “It is wrong. It is a constitutional right to protest. We are being stopped at home only, it is an attempt to suppress our voice by Modi ji.”

According to her, Earlier this month to she got threatened to her life since she welcomed the Supreme Court verdict and told her intention to visit Sabarimala.

The activist also led the agitation successfully for the entry of the women in Shani Shingnapur temple in April 2016.
