Pimpri-Chinchwad : Residents angry over carelessness of PCMC towards watering trees

Bhosari: Residents of Bhosari are agitated with the contractor appointed by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to supply water to the trees. It’s noted by them that for the past two months, the trees haven’t been watered and around 8 trees have dried due to the same, while several others have dried up/on the verge of drying up.

These residents have now started watering the trees themselves and are ready to take the responsibility but do not have enough resources and need a water tanker for the work.

Prashant Raul, an environment activist and a resident of Bhosari said, “We have been approaching the municipal corporation from time to time asking them to regulate the water supply to the trees, but the response hasn’t been very great. We have registered a complaint against the same on the PCMC’s Sarathi app.”

A complaint about the contractor has been given to the municipal corporation. The corporation has now ordered the contractor that immediate work should begin from their side.

Prakash Gaikwad, from the Tree Authority Department commenting on the issue said, “As soon as we received the complaint we have questioned the contractor and asked him to regulate the same.”
