Finally, the Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate will become functional from August 15. It will have temporary office in Chinchwad Auto Cluster, till the time office is constructed Chinchwad Premlok Park PCMC school.

In this regard, on Friday, a meeting was held with the Guardian Minister Girish Bapat in the office of PMRDA (Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority). From August 15, it was decided to start the work of the new police commissionerate at the auto cluster of Chinchwad.

In this meeting BJP MLA Laxman Jagtap, Mahesh Landge, additional commissioner of police commissioner Makarand Ranade, DCP Ganesh Shinde, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, PMRDA Commissioner Kiran Geete, PCMC leader Eknath Pawar were also present.

Incomplete work of the Commissionerate in the school building in Premlok Park will be completed in a month’s time and the inauguration will be done by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

It may be noted that after decades of demand and efforts, separate police commissionerate has been approved for Pimpri Chinchwad. Till the construction of a permanent building for the commissioner office, efforts are being made to start the work of the commissionerate by getting the building on rent from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). For this, a school building in Premlok Park has been fixed. The transfer of the existing school from here was strongly opposed by parents of the children who studied here. They had organised protests also but it was decided that the police commissioner office will come up here only.

The PCMC has also provided space for Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city. The work of building the school building in accordance with the Commissionerate was started, but both the PCMC and the ruling BJP failed to get it done on time.
