PCMC records 281 COVID-19 cases with no new deaths on Friday

Pimpri: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation registered 281 coronavirus cases on Friday, taking the total cases count to 1, 02,698. With 30 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered spared to 98,165.

 

In the last 24 hours, no patient has died in the municipal area. So far, 2599 patients have died due to coronavirus disease in the city, out of which 1828 are from the city and 771 are out of municipal limits.

 

Currently, there are 869 active COVID-19 patients in Pimpri Chinchwad and they are undergoing treatment at the Municipal Hospital in the city. 127 patients from outside Pimpri Municipal Corporation are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the city. Meanwhile, 121 patients from Pimpri Chinchwad are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pune.

 

The PCMC has started strict enforcement of COVID norms with the increasing number of Coronavirus cases. According to the directives issued by PCMC Additional Municipal Commissioner Vikas Dhakane, all marriage halls, cultural halls, entertainment places, multi-purpose halls, religious and spiritual places, social, educational and political meeting places have been directed to ensure mandatory use of masks and hand-sanitisers by the people.

 

“We have directed the divisional office chiefs to send their squads to monitor and take penal action against those found guilty of not using masks or hand-sanitisers,” said Dr Pavan Salve, PCMC Additional Health chief.

 

Similarly, the PCMC health department has directed civic offices and schools as well as all private offices to ensure that mask and sanitiser norms, besides social distancing, are followed strictly.
