Now this is important for vehicle registration in India!

New Delhi: Making it mandatory, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced that FAStag details will now be compulsary in order to register vehicles or even issue fitness certificates.
This change has appplicable across India. The Ministry informed the National Informatics Centre as well as all states and union territories that the National Electronic Toll Collection has been completely integrated with the VAHAN portal.
The VAHAN system can now get all the requisite information on FASTags via vehicles’ VIN/VRN. Hence, the request to ensure FASTag details are captured while registering new vehicles or issuing fitness certificates to vehicles plying under national permit henceforth.
In a statement notifying the change, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said, “The fitment of FASTag in new vehicles at the time of sales of vehicles of category M and N, was made mandatory in 2017. But the integration with bank account or they being activated was being avoided by citizens, which would be checked now.
