No Child to Couple! Man kidnapped another child, handed over to wife

NPnews24 Online Pune: The sleuths from Pune rural police Local Crime Branch (LCB) have arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping a one and half year old girl in Jejuri. Police said that the man and his wife were childless even after seven years of marriage, hence he kidnapped the girl near Jejuri bus stand and handed her over to his wife.

The arrested man has been identified as Sagar Pandurang Kharat of Malegaon Budruk, Baramati. He currently resided in Kolwadi in Haveli taluka of the district.

According to police, the incident took place on May 31 this year at Jejuri bus stand. Surekha Vinod Bhaisare (35) of Jejuri was going to attend funeral of her relative, when the accused whisked away the child. A case was later registered with Jejuri police station.

Acting on the directions Pune rural SP Sandip Patil, a team led by LCB inspector Padmakar Ghanvat arrested the accused. His wife used to look after the girl, police said.
