Nana Patekar is indecent, But … : Raj Thackeray

Mumbai: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Tanushree Dutta left everyone shell-shocked when she alleged that her ‘Horn Ok Please’ co-star Nana Patekar sexually harassed her on the film’s set. That created a repeal around the entire industry and The #MeToo movement was reborn.

Following Tanushree’s allegations, Nana slapped a legal notice on her. In turn, she filed a police complaint against Nana and others who she alleged were complicit in the action. She even recorded her statement with the police where she narrated her entire ordeal again. In that controversial interview, she made statements against MNS leader Raj Thackeray.

Now, MNS party chief Raj Thackeray has come out in support of Patekar. While speaking at a recent event, he admitted that while Nana was indecent, he doesn’t think he can harass anyone.

Claiming that he knows Nana Patekar as someone who does “crazy things”, Thackeray said that Patekar can’t do such a thing even know he is known to be “indecent”. He further said that the court will look into the matter and the people must not arrive at a judgment on social media.

“I know Nana Patekar; he is indecent. He does crazy things but I don’t think he can do such a thing. Court will look into it. What is the media to do with it? #MeToo is a serious matter, the debate over it on Twitter isn’t right,” the MNS chief said at an event.

Thackeray further said that the movement may have been “fuelled” to divert attention from other important issues such as rising petrol prices, rupee value decreasing against the dollar and the lack of jobs, unemployment in the country.

“It seems it is being done to divert attention from petrol price, rupee value, and unemployment. If anything like #MeToo happens, women can come to MNS. We will teach a lesson to accused. Women must raise the voice when they face oppression, not after 10 years,” he was quoted as saying.

If any woman faces something unwarranted, she can approach the MNS for help, Raj Thackeray said. Women should raise their voice when they face oppression, and not after 10 years, the MNS chief added.
