Instagram launches ‘Live Room’ feature, users can add up to 4 people

Instagram has announced the launch of ‘Live Rooms’ feature. With this, users will now be able to add four people during a live broadcast. Previously, only one user could be added during ‘Instagram Live’.

The use of the Instagram Live feature was frozen due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Celebrities were using this feature more to chat with other celebrities. Along with these celebrities were connecting with their fans while talking on the Instagram live of various media houses.

“Previously, you could go live with only one other person in a stream, but we’re now letting you ‘double up’ on your live broadcast,” the company said.

Now Instagram live users can buy badges for them to support creators. Live viewers will now be able to purchase badges for the host, this will lead to virtual funding.

Instagram has said that in the coming few months it will also introduce controls for moderators. This will help them conduct live sessions better. Instagram also gives the option to add guests. The company says that going live together will help users reach more people.

HOW IT WORKS

To start a Live Room— swipe left and pick the Live camera option. Then, add a title and tap the Rooms icon to add your guests. You’ll see people who have requested to go live with you, and you can also search for a guest to add. When you start a Live Room, you’ll remain at the top of the screen when you add guests. As a broadcaster, you can add up to three guests at once or one by one (for example, you could start with two guests, and add a surprise guest as the third participant later) Going live with multiple guests is a great way to increase your reach, as guests’ followers can also be notified.
