India Ideas Summit : Business Deal Between America & India Soon Possible – Piyush Goyal

New Delhi : Addressing the India Ideas Summit organized by the US-India Business Council, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that India and the US are close to a trade deal.

Piyush Goyal said that both New Delhi and Washington should enter into a preferential trade deal with 50 to 100 products and move towards a free trade agreement in the long term. He said that in today’s date, the door of trust between India and America is very strong.

India is a better place for investment
The Union Minister said that India is continuously working on the investment front. In the coming years, work is being done on making India a manufacturing hub. India has always been focused on quality products and cheap costs. Apart from this, India is a big market.

Goyal said that India is capable of filling an empty space in the international supply chain. The world is eyeing India amid the Corona crisis. A better investment climate has been created in the last few years. So that in the coming days, India should be the best destination for investors around the world. The government is ready to support investors in every way. Single window permission is being worked on.

The dream of a self-sufficient India will be fulfilled
Goyal further said that India will prove to be an important destination for investment as well as for other countries. Recently, the government has given the slogan of self-sufficient India. This slogan of PM Modi has got the support of 130 crore people of the country.

Union Minister Goyal said that gradually the world is realizing that India has that capability. India is now completely self-sufficient for PPE kits, masks and ventilators. With this, India is now exporting all these products as well.

Regarding the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Goyal said that representatives of both countries will have to conduct long talks for this. Presidential elections are to be held in America in November. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether these talks take place before or after the elections. The opening of the virtual conference took place on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address this conference on Wednesday.
