Honour killing – Youth murdered for love marriage

After one year of death of a youth, Pune city police has registered a case of murder against the maternal uncle and cousin brother of the youth.

Police have identified the deceased as Indrajit Umashankar Gaud, a native of Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, Indrajit had love marriage with a girl against the wishes of his family and relatives. They had broken ties with him.

On the night of July 19-20 last year, his uncle Kamlesh Mallu Gaud and cousin Amarnath Dashrath Gaud went to his house and brutally assaulted him. Later they strangled him to death.

After the post mortem report confirmed death due to strangulation, an FIR against the two accused was registered with Vimantal police station for offence under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
