Honour Killing – Family sets pregnant daughter, son-in-law on fire for inter caste marriage

NPnews24 Online Ahmednagar : In a shocking incident, a woman died while her husband is fighting for life in hospital, after her family set them on fire for their inter caste marriage.

The deceased has been identified as Rukmini, while her husband Mangesh Chandrakant Ranasing is undergoing treatment at Pune’s Sassoon hospital.

According to police, Mangesh is a businessman in Nighoj village in Parner taluka of Ahmednagar district. He had love marriage with Rukmini six months ago. She was two months pregnant and was currently staying at her mother’s place. Mangesh had gone to get her back to his house. However, there was argument between Mangesh and his wife’s father Rama Bhartiya, uncle Surendra Kumar Bhartiya and maternal uncle Ghanshyam Ranjeet. They assaulted Mangesh and Rukmini and then set them on fire in the house.

Police officials said that Rukmini died in the incident, while Mangesh is undergoing treatment at Sassoon hospital in Pune.

Police have arrested two persons two persons, while search is going on for the third accused.
