FC students went on a hunger strike

Pune : Npnews24 online – One more row triggered in the city, because of the recent hike in the fee structure has prompted students at Fergusson College to announce a hunger strike in protest of the directive.

According to the students, the college has increased both the academic fees and mess meal charges, result in the more than 50 per cent hike.

Students had requested the college authority to not increase the fees or to keep the hike nominal if the college were to increase fees at all.

Many students have come from rural areas, and also most of them are from drought affected regions. Into this, students have now announced to go on hunger strike and they have demanded the college revert the decision to hike course fees any further and also consider reducing the charges for the canteen meals.

Ravindrasinh Pardeshi, Principal, Fergusson College, said, “The College got an autonomous status three years ago and since then there has been no increase in fees.
