Did NCP leader Deepak Mankar gave false information about properties during elections?

PUNE: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Pune police have claimed that former deputy mayor and NCP corporator Deepak Mankar, who is lodged in Yerwada central jail in connection with abetment of suicide social worker Jitendra Jagtap, had submitted details of his and his relatives properties before the elections, which are different from what police have found in their investigation.

Mankar had contested the 2014 assembly elections from Kasba Peth constituency and also contested the Pune municipal corporation (PMC).

While seeking police custody in the abetment of suicide case, police informed the court on Tuesday that Mankar’s custodial interrogation is required to further investigate the matter. Police said that they have seized several incriminating documents from his office and residence.

Mankar was arrested on August 1 in connection with the abetment of a suicide case. After he was remanded to police custody he was put up in Vishrambaug lock up. But at night he complained of health problem and he had to be rushed to the hospital. Since then he has spent 88 days in hospitals and also undergone minor surgery.

At present, he was lodged in Yerwada Central Jail. On Tuesday, he was remanded to police custody till December 26.

Jitendra’s body was found in two parts near Hadapsar railway station after he allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on June 2.

A day later, based on suicide note in which he alleged harassment by Mankar and others including builder Sudhir Karnataki, the Samarth police station registered the case based on the statement of deceased’s son Jayesh (26). Jitendra’s brother Shailendra is noted cop in Pune police, who is better known as the gunman as he has seized several weapons.

Initially, Jitendra’s death was recorded as an accidental death by the Pune railway police. Later his son registered a criminal case with Pune city police’s Samarth police station.
