Declare disputed border area a Union Territory, Uddhav Thackeray demands in the Legislative Council

Nagpur : NpNews24 Online  – Maharashtra Karnataka Border Dispute | Is Karnataka a state of India or not? The decision of the Supreme Court is binding on us, but not on Karnataka? All parties stand united in Karnataka on the border issue but such a picture is not seen in Maharashtra. Ministers wish they were born in Karnataka. From whom will one expect justice? How did the border dispute start today? Idols have been insulted in Maharashtra itself. How can others be spared? said former CM Uddhav Thackeray. (Maharashtra Karnataka Border Dispute)

“We should stand united with a resolution that if not today, then never. The border area should become a Union Territory. The oppression by the Kannadigas must stop,” he added. Thackeray demanded in the Legislative Council that a resolution should be passed that the entire administration of the area should be taken over by the Central government.

Now you have crossed the limit
The border dispute is not an issue concerning the linguistic state formation. This is a matter of humanity. Some in the Lower House said they have been beaten. You were in the ruling party then, now you have crossed over. The Chief Minister went to Delhi. Was it really worth visiting Delhi while there was tension on the border? Basically, what did he achieve in the meeting with the Home Minister? We made a law that Marathi boards should be put up in Maharashtra. Some people went to court against this. Is our government going to act like the Karnataka government?

Don’t just talk
Uddhav Thackeray attacked the Shinde-Fadnavis government over the border dispute. When the Belgaum Municipal Corporation passed a resolution to join Maharashtra, the civic body was dissolved by the Karnataka government. Are you going to dissolve a gram panchayat (which resolved to join Karnataka)? Don’t just talk. If the resolution is to be presented, then it must be that the border area should be taken over by the Centre,” said Thackeray. Uddhav

Thackeray sought to pass a resolution on that day itself and send it to the Centre.
