Another setback for BJP in Pimpri Chinchwad: Corporator Maya Barne resigns

Pimpri : NpNews24 Online – Corporator Maya Barne | The Pimpri Chinchwad unit of the BJP is receiving one setback after another before the forthcoming municipal elections. Three corporators of the party have already resigned and now, corporator Maya Barne has resigned. Barne has resigned because she is unhappy with the party, according to the political grapevine. Maya Barne was representing the Thergaon constituency. Today, she submitted her resignation to Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil.

Earlier, BJP’s corporators Vasant Borate, Chanda Lokhande and Tushar Kamthe had resigned. Now, corporator Maya Barne who was representing ward number 24 (Thergaon), resigned today. Her resignation is the fourth setback for the party.

Maya Barne said she had quit because she was fed up of the dictatorial and corrupt administration of the BJP. This was her second term. In 2012, she was elected on a NCP ticket. In 2017, she entered the BJP. She was elected twice on the BJP symbol from ward number 24 in Thergaon. There is a speculation that she resigned because the party did not give her any post in the last five years.

Meanwhile, Maya Barne’s husband and former leader of the opposition Santosh Barne had entered the NCP in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Hence, it was clear that Maya Barne will also resign and she did that today.
