Congress Corporator and Former Minister’s son arrested for abetment and insulting Ganesh idol

Former State Home Minister’s son and Congress Corporator have been arrested by Pune police for allegedly insulting the driver of the tractor who was carrying Ganesh Idol. He abetted to thrash the sound system and also defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion.

The incident came to light after Yuvraj Sultan Adsul (27), a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Society, Kasewadi in Bhawani Peth registered the First Information Report (FIR) with Khadak police station which falls under the jurisdiction of Pune city police.

In this regard the case has registered against Avinash Ramesh Bagwe, Yasir Bagwe, Vivek alias Bunty Bagwe, Dayanand Adghale, Jaywant Mohite, Suraj Kamble, Jumar Addgale, Nitin Kasbe, Bapu Kasbe, Ganesh Jadhav, Bagwe’s personal assistant Arun Gaikwad, Surekha Khandale, Vitthol Thorat, Paresh Gurav and others. All resident of Kasewadi in Bhavani Peth area.

All are charged under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code comprises of 143, 146, 148, 149, 295, 296, 323, 427, 504 and 34. All booked under Maharashtra Act section 37(1)(3) read with 135.

In this regard, the Avinash Bagwe who is the son of former state home minister Ramesh Bagwe and at present is city president of Congress of Pune city.

According to police, “We have arrested Avinash Bagwe who is corporator of Congress and son of Former Maharashtra state home minister. He along with his accomplices provoke breach of peace during Ganesh procession. On Sunday around 6 pm when Ashok Tarun Mandal procession was passing by via Bhawani peth area on the public road. That time, Avinash along with his members said that abet them, target the mandal, thrash them and not to leave them. After which the truck driver Somnath Maske and sound system owner Omkar Pandharinath Koli were beaten and also vandalized the sound system.”

He added, “The gang not only thrashed and destroyed the system but also threw shoes, chappals which not only damaged the procession but also vandalized the Ganesh idol and the decoration.”

After this incident panic and chaos was created due to this mischievous and provocation act.  In order to bring the situation under control or law and order issue, Khadak police station Inspector (Crime) Vijaykumar Shinde and Assistant police inspector J C Mujawar rushed to the spot. Post-incident Senior police inspector Rajendra Mokashi increases the police bandobast.
